The hidden talents of dozens of orphans from Sharjah will be revealed at The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali in neighbouring Dubai this week, under a new tie-up between Limitless and the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation.
Handmade items designed by a orphans at the Foundation will be on show at Limitless’ flagship development for three days from Tuesday (7 June) as part of The Galleries’ ongoing philanthropic, sustainability and tenant relations programmes.
More than 2,000 orphans, homeless people and families in need have joined the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation (SSEF) since it was formed by His Highness Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, in 2002.
Bahaa Abouhatab, Project Director at The Galleries, said: “The Galleries is a fast-growing business community of more than 2,000 people – the same number of people being cared for by the SSEF.  Everyone should have access to shelter, education and health facilities, yet the number of children and families without these basics has grown  10-fold over the last decade, according to the Foundation.  We are delighted to welcome the SSEF to The Galleries, and hope that our tenants – and the wider communities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi – will visit the exhibition and help us support those in need.”
The event runs from 8am to 3pm, Tuesday 7 to Thursday 9 June, at The Galleries Building 4.  All proceeds will go to the Foundation.  To reach The Galleries, take the Dubai Metro to Jebel Ali station or, by car, leave Sheikh Zayed Road at exit 20 and follow the signs directly into Downtown Jebel Ali, where parking is free and a range of cafes and restaurants are open to visitors.
