Office and retail occupancy at The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali has reached almost 75 per cent across three of the development’s commercial towers, Limitless announced today (Sunday).
Nearly 422,000 sq ft of A-grade commercial space has now been leased at The Galleries’ first three buildings, which offer 588,000 sq ft of office space in total, according to a Q3 2011 report. New tenants include Atos – the Paris-based international IT services firm that acquired Siemens IT Solutions earlier this year – which is moving 60 staff into a 7,500 sq ft office at The Galleries. In addition, 24,000 sq ft of retail space is now occupied.
Bahaa Abouhatab, Limitless’ Head of Projects, UAE, said: “The Galleries has been a hive of activity over the last three months, despite the traditional summer lull. New commercial and retail tenants signed up and some of our existing tenants have expanded and reserved additional office space. On the retail side, more banks and restaurants have opened for business. We’re now at almost 75 per cent occupancy across three towers, with more deals currently being finalised.”
Office tenants at The Galleries include Siemens, L’Oreal, Ericsson, Arup, China National Petroleum Company and Kraft Foods, while onsite retailers include one of Dubai’s biggest Subway restaurants, Oregano Italian eatery, Click restaurant and a Bakeria/Café Arabicca outlet. There are also branches of Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Blom Bank, with an HSBC undergoing fit out, as well as a convenience store and a car rental shop.
The Galleries is an eight-building mixed-use development set among landscaped, communal grounds that, at 215,000 sq feet, are the size of three international football pitches. Less than an hour by car from Abu Dhabi and directly accessed from Sheikh Zayed Road direct road or via its own Metro station, The Galleries has 2,200 underground parking spaces as well as onsite Facilities Management and Tenant Relations teams.
