Galleries’ tyre checks show one in eight cars has potentially fatal tyres
One in eight cars in Dubai has potentially fatal tyres, and over half are inflated to incorrect levels, according to Apollo Tyres’ recent Drive Safe campaign at The Galleries, Limitless’ flagship project at Downtown Jebel Ali.
Experts from Apollo Tyres – one of The Galleries’ newest commercial tenants – checked almost 100 cars and found over 12 per cent to be at imminent risk of tyre failure. Faults included serious damage, worn out tyres and tyres inflated to less than half of the recommended pressure.  In addition, 51 per cent of the tyres checked were either under or over-inflated.
Around a third of road accidents are caused by faulty tyres, according to a Dubai Police report earlier this year.
Apollo Tyres’ safety drive at The Galleries was its first in Dubai; more are planned throughout 2012.

One in three Galleries commuters travels by Metro
The Galleries’ commuters are getting greener, with one in three now going to work by Metro each day, says Limitless.
Research among commercial and retail tenants at The Galleries shows that up to 1,000 people now let the train take the strain for their daily journey to work.  Many are offered incentives by their employers to leave the car behind.
The Galleries’ Metro station is linked to the development’s office towers by a shaded, tree-lined walkway, constructed by Limitless as part of its commitment to green transport and sustainability.

Galleries gears up for a week of festivities
A series of festive films will be shown daily at The Galleries’ outdoor cinema this week.
Pictures will be shown on The Galleries’ giant plasma screen every lunchtime in the run up to 25 December.  The screen, housed in a steel frame the size of a tennis court, overlooks a 300-seat amphitheatre in The Galleries’ shaded, communal gardens, where a growing number of cafes, restaurants and retailers are now open.
