Companies and individuals should use this weekend’s Earth Hour to kick start a permanent change in eco-habits in the office and at home, says Limitless, which is supporting the event by turning off thousands of lights at its developments.

Limitless is encouraging employees and office tenants at The Galleries, its flagship project in Dubai, to join the global initiative as part of its commitment to energy conservation and environmental sustainability. Around 80 per cent intend to take part, but businesses and residents who think green for more than just an hour will make a far greater contribution to the fight against climate change – and save money in the process, the company says.

Salah Ameen, Executive Director for Limitless in the Middle East, said: “Simple changes in human behaviour, such as turning off lights when they aren’t in use, can make a huge collective difference if everybody develops the right long term habits.  Adjusting air conditioning thermostats by a few degrees also cuts energy consumption and reduces costs to businesses and homes.

“On Saturday night, we will switch off our large digital screens and the 600 lights that that we control at The Galleries, and we hope our tenants there will do the same. Our corporate headquarters in Dubai will also join the initiative.”
Limitless uses low energy lighting throughout its buildings. For more information on Limitless’ sustainability policies, visit www.limitless.com
