Artists' work on show at The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali

Limitless is teaming up with Mawaheb art studio in Dubai to showcase the work of 18 young adults with special needs at The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali this summer.

The exhibition, on now until 12 September, is supported by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and displays 15 works of art from Mawaheb students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Faisal Al Raisi, Head of Leasing at The Galleries, said:  “Limitless brings together The Galleries’ growing business and retail community – and the wider communities of the UAE – with a series of initiatives that support and celebrate local culture, talent and traditions.  We are honoured to host Mawaheb at our flagship development, and proud to be involved in promoting the work of these very talented people throughout the summer.

“The event will be a big draw for the 2,500 people working at The Galleries and for the surrounding business areas such as Jafza, as well as visitors who call in for lunch or perhaps to visit a bank. We also hope to attract members of general public from across Dubai and the other parts of the UAE.”

Wemmy de Maaker, Founder and Managing Director at Mawaheb, added: “Mawaheb is Dubai’s first art studio for young adults with special needs. We aim to bridge the gap between students and society by providing them with direction once they finish school.  Our students learn the principles of art using a variety of media. We are very proud of their work, and are extremely grateful to Limitless and The Galleries for their support.”

The Mawaheb exhibition is being held in the lobby area of the Siemens-branded Galleries Building 2. Visitors can reach The Galleries via the Jebel Ali Metro Station or from exit 20 on Sheikh Zayed Road and following the signs directly into Downtown Jebel Ali.  The show is open seven days a week and entry is free.
The Galleries includes four office towers set in a 20,000 square metre Plaza – a giant communal garden the size of three international football pitches.  The Plaza is lined with a growing number of cafes and restaurants, and there are more 10 international banks and convenience stores at the complex.
