Arabic grill feasts on brisk business at Limitless development

The first restaurant has opened at The Galleries at Downtown Jebel Ali, where 32,000 square feet – 50 per cent – of the available retail space is now leased, says master developer Limitless.

UAE-based Mushmaool, the first of seven food and beverage outlets at The Galleries, occupies 2,610 square feet in the development’s office towers, where around 2,000 people now work. The Arabic/Mediterranean grill reports brisk business at The Galleries, where it offers dine-in, takeaway and delivery services to tenants and visitors.

Cafes and restaurants account for half of the 14 retailers currently signed up at Limitless’ flagship project: Caribou Coffee, Subway, Oregano, Appetite and Nordsee are among those opening at The Galleries once fit outs are complete. Other retailers include Emarat/Fresh Plus convenience store, opening in August, a car rental firm, a pharmacy and six international banks. More deals are in the pipeline.

Salah Ameen, Executive Director for Limitless in the Middle East, said: “The opening of Mushmaool and the imminent launch of other restaurants, shops and services underlines the healthy appetite for retail space at our flagship project. And while half of our retail space is now taken, demand for our A-grade commercial towers continues, too, with 12 global and local firms choosing The Galleries as their office base. Between them, they employ nearly 2,000 people who now have an increasing number of every day conveniences right on their doorstep.”

Flettin Maratt, Mushmaool partner and chef, added: “The Galleries is a natural choice for us – in a business sense and because we, like Limitless, firmly believe in health and wellbeing, sustainability and convenience. In our case, this means using only fresh, local ingredients – with no supplements or colourings – and giving Galleries tenants and visitors the choice of food delivered to the office, a quick take-away or dining in for business lunches or more leisurely meals.”

The Galleries is on Sheikh Zayed Road (SZR), close to the Jebel Ali Freezone, around 45 minutes from Abu Dhabi. It is set in 20,000 square metres of green, communal space with landscaped grounds, shaded areas for relaxation, fountains, pools and an amphitheatre for 300 people.

Already directly accessible via the newly-opened Interchange 8 on SZR, The Galleries is also on the Dubai Metro Red Line, with the station due to open in October, according to the RTA.
